Myco Curators started out as an MSc research project, assessing the growth of various oyster mushroom varieties using spent coffee grounds. During this time, we found that there was a major gap in the exotic mushroom industry outside of major cities such as Cape Town.
Today we exist as an intersection between these two fields: the sustainable cultivation of exotic mushroom species and their introduction to new areas. With this, we hope to be able to contribute to the food and nutrition security within South Africa.

Our founder, Ethan McCrorie, is deeply impassioned by sustainable agriculture. With a curiousity for the obscure and exotic, mushrooms became this foodie's favourite special interest.
"I dream of helping expand the current mushroom industry in South Africa, allowing others to experience more from the diverse world of mushrooms at our fingertips."
